Jon - St. Pauls, Bristol,

on what it's like to live under a Banyan tree

Living with a banyan tree is lovely, their big oval leaves face in all directions making it look great in any position. Having the reservoir between the soil-filled pot and the wooden plinth creates a great structure that adds a lot of interest to my living area.

It is very satisfying watching the new leaves develop with their vivid colours and glossy sheen and I find myself inspecting the plant every day when watering the roots.

I would very much recommend to anyone who loves plants to foster a banyan, to not only enjoy its delightful characteristics but also to be part of The Bristol Rainforest.

I also recommend checking out the other great plants on show in The Bristol Rainforest's charming 'Hot House' on Wilder Street.
